Decision support, not a diagnosis
BurnCare is an AI-based clinical research platform. Every output it produces — burn-region detection, total body surface area (TBSA) estimates, severity classification, or a Parkland fluid resuscitation estimate — is generated by automated models and heuristics. None of it constitutes a medical diagnosis or treatment plan. The final clinical decision always rests with the treating healthcare professional, who should independently verify any figure before acting on it.
Accuracy is not guaranteed
AI outputs may contain errors. Burn-region detection can miss or over-include tissue; TBSA estimates depend on photo quality, patient positioning, and (for the automatic path) a printed reference marker being correctly detected — none of which the platform can fully verify on its own. Manual TBSA calculations depend on the accuracy of the reference measurement the clinician enters. Treat every number this platform reports as a starting point for clinical judgment, not a final answer.
Research-stage software
This deployment supports an active research study into 2D-photo-based burn assessment. Features may change, be temporarily unavailable, or behave unexpectedly as the underlying models and pipeline continue to be developed and evaluated.
Emergencies
This platform is not an emergency response tool. In a medical emergency, follow your institution's standard emergency protocols rather than waiting on or relying on any output from this software.
